Summer Blues

I don't know if it is just because I am expecting a baby boy in a few months but everywhere I look, everything is blue this season! From clothing to makeup to furniture - BLUE is the IT colour for Spring/Summer 2014.  I am loving it :)

Here are some of my favourite BLUE pieces

I'm OBSESSED with these heels- stunners!

Blue is even prominent in the furniture collections:

Loving the Floral trend this Spring!

I love it when the new Spring collections start trickling into the stores. Everything is always so fresh and colourful compared to the duller winter clothes. This season, I am especially coveting the Floral trend. Flowers have literally popped up everywhere on clothes, bags, shoes, and even pjs!  Here are a few of my favourite picks...

Get the Look For MUCH Less: Louis Vuitton's Lingerie Dress

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2013 collection of lingerie dresses
(www.vogue.co.uk)

Marc Jacobs collection for Louis Vuitton this season was a collection of barely there, lingerie-style dresses. The idea behind his collection was "All dressed up but nowhere to go." The dresses are quite skimpy with plunging necklines, thigh splits and low backs so he covered them with long coats.  While I personally find them very skimpy and risque (lingerie should only be worn at home!), the fashion world has gone crazy over them and celebrities have been snapped out and about in these dresses.

Luckily for us, ZARA has created its own versions of the lingerie-style dress at a FRACTION of the price

This dress is very on trend with its lace details and tartan print

I love how they made this more wearable by teaming it with a light sweater

How to wear this trend
To pull off a lingerie-style, lace covered dress to perfection, I think you need a killer bod and a TON of confidence! Otherwise, there are ways to make it more fashionable & less skimpy...

  1. Cover with an eye-catching blazer or long sweater in the same color scheme as the dress so they look like a set
  2. Dress down with chunky boots or dress up with stilettos
  3. Wear statement earrings or a statement necklace to bring attention up to your face and not to the plunging necklines
  4. As always, only wear this trend if you are truly comfortable in it and have fun :)

Think PINK this Fall

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and very fittingly this season, PINK is one of the major trends. It's a nice change from all the punk, fur and tartan trends which are quite bold and loud. Pink is softer and more feminine.

To PERFECT the trend this season,  keep your look from being too girly by choosing more refined pieces (less frills, more structure), and add BIG statement jewellery. Or simply wear pink shoes or bags to an otherwise more bold look to make it more feminine.

Here are a few of my favourite PINK items:

It's ALL about Pearls!

Pearls on the Lanvin Runway

Remember how our grandmothers and mothers used to wear pearls? A short string around their neck with perhaps a pearl in each ear. Tres Chic! Then Karl Lagerfeld updated the look and made wearing long chains of pearls with the Chanel logo the IT item to wear for years. This season, pearls have gotten another revamp and have been mixed with different metals and beads to look more Punk than Chic.  I think I like them more this way! They are more fun!

There isn't one particular length that is IN so wear which ever suits you best :)

I couldn't believe this is ZARA, it looks SO MUCH MORE!

This necklace is quite busy but is an amazing statement piece to spice up an outfit

Louis Vuitton's new W Bag

Actress Michelle Williams is the face of Louis Vuitton's FW 2013 handbags

Louis Vuitton has released a new IT bag for Fall 2013 that I am lusting after - the W Bag! It is practical to be carried everyday as it fits tons of stuff, but is also elegant enough to be carried for casual nights out. It is made primarily from soft calf cashmere leather and has 3 interior pockets for your everyday essentials.

The W bag has a dual-material design. It is classic Louis Vuitton but cooler and fresher with a twist on the well-known monogram. This IT bag has already been seen on the arms of many super fashionable celebrities.

It comes in two sizes - the PM (33 cm wide) and the GM (40 cm wide) and five super stylish colour combinations. I especially love the yellow one carried by Michelle Williams above. The W bag is being released in the Fall of 2013 and will be on sale in stores starting September.

I'm OBSESSED with this bag- The W must stand for WOW!

Fabulous Ear Cuffs

Ever since the Punk Themed MET Gala in New York this past May, I knew that punk would be on trend for Fall/Winter! Ear cuffs are especially IN and are a lot of fun to wear. If the cuff is very embellished and large, I suggest only wearing it on one ear and putting a stud in the other or nothing at all (similar to Diane Kruger above). If they are smaller, then one in each ear will look fine. Stray out from your comfort zone and embrace this trend... It's new and would look really great with your hair tied up or in a braid. Enjoy!

Here are a few of my Favourite Picks:

If you are looking for an earcuff that is more subtle and less flamboyant, this one is perfect.
It will make a statement but not a big bang!
