Poupette a La Plage

I recently the discovered the brand Poupette a La Plage - an adorable brand of beachwear for boys and girls aged 6 months to 12 years. Started by mom of two Katia Najjar in 2011, the creations are made from vintage 'House of Liberty' fabrics from London and then made right here in Dubai. The quality is absolutely amazing and I could not resist buying a set for my son :)

Each print has swimwear, dresses and accessories for boys and girls so you can either buy a set of the same prints or mix and match.
I can almost guarantee that your child will be the best dressed kid at the beach!

Gucci Backpacks & Satchels

This morning I discovered the GUCCI Kids Back to School selection with the most beautiful backpacks and satchels. They are made of real leather, have fabulous designs and come in a variety of colours for both girls and boys. Unfortunately, they are super expensive (as is to be expected from GUCCI), but super cool as well! I would be way too afraid of sending my kid off to school or nursery with these cute bags, but was thinking that they would work well as backpacks for us moms to carry their stuff inside. Check them out below :)

Sweet Potato, Pear, Broccoli & Quinoa

Ever since I started weaning my son at 5 months, the person that I have looked to for recipes has been Annabel Karmel. Her food is all healthy, all fresh and really yummy. Here is a recipe that sounds weird but is actually super nutritious! It will get your child eating their broccoli with no fuss and I added quinoa to it for extra protein. My son loved it :)

Best for babies  9 -12 months and over
Makes about 4 - 5 servings
Suitable for freezing

INGREDIENTS

15g Unsalted Butter
150g chopped Leak
250g diced Sweet Potato
150g diced Butternut Squash
200g pealed and diced pear
500g water
80g chopped broccoli
100g milk
50g grated emmental cheese
1/2 cup organic white quinoa

STEPS
  1. Put the Quinoa in a saucepan with 1.5 cups of water and bring to a boil. When boiling, lower the heat to a simmer and cover the pot. It should be done in about 15 minutes. You can fluff it with a fork when ready
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the leak, sweet potato, pear and squash. Gently sauté over the heat for 4 to 5 minutes. Add the water

3. Cover with a lid. Bring to a boil and then leave to simmer for about 20 minutes until tender

4. Add the broccoli and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until soft

5. Mix in the milk and the cheese

6. If blending for younger children, blend until the mixture is nice and smooth

7. Put the mixture into small containers with 2 tablespoons of quinoa in each

Children's Stationary

One major addition to my life since my son has arrived are the endless Birthday Parties that we now attend! It seems that every weekend there is at least one child who has a birthday. This means constantly shopping for kids gifts, wrapping paper and gift cards.

For my son's one year birthday earlier this year, a few of the gifts that we received had personalized gift cards. I found them such a cute idea to help  those gifts stand out from the rest.

I decided to make sets of cards for my son and discovered a website in the U.S. called MINTED.   They have over 300 super cute designs to choose from and are printed on beautiful quality paper.

Here are a few of my favourite picks

The above cards are by MINTED.COM
All of the designs can be personalized, come in different colour options, have matching envelopes & are printed on extra thick cotton card stock

Would you make a set for your kids?

Obsession Alert!!!

For all you Karl Lagerfeld fans, I have great news for you! Karl Lagerfeld is expanding his line to include Children's  wear starting Spring/Summer 2016. It will include ready-to- wear clothing and accessories for girls and boys, newborns through 16 years.

As is expected of a collection made by Mr. Lagerfeld, don't expect cookie-cutter children's clothing! The rock and roll line will include leather jackets, gloves and ties - mostly in his signature black. As well as a Choupette headband, named after his pet cat.

The children's commerce site Melijoe.com will be the first to stock this collection, with selected pieces to be available in December. Department stores around the world will follow suit come January.

Get ready for our kids to become more fashion forward than we are!

Barbie by Sophia Webster

Remember when we used to play with our Barbies, dress them up, style their hair and pretend we were dating hunky Ken? They belonged in a pretend world that brought smiles to our faces and endless imagination. Did you ever wish you WERE Barbie? Well this season, Sophia Webster has brought us a collection that will put us in Barbie's shoes. Literally!

I never realized that until now Barbie ONLY ever wore heels or wedges! Talk about high maintenance. Her creator Mattel has decided that this Fall Barbie will finally join our more laid back generation and own a pair of flats. They called on Sophia Webster for a capsule collection comprised of 9 styles : 6 for us women and 3 for mini me little girls. Isn't that cute?!

Check out the very pink and oh so girly collection:

Go ahead, embrace the young girl in you who used to love Barbies, and don't forget to buy a mini version for your precious little girl :)

Barbie by Sophia Webster is sold at Sophia Webster.com,  Selfridges.com, and at the Level Shoe District at Dubai Mall

Mini Me Collections for Kids!

This post is for all the designer-loving, clothes-obsessed fashionistas out there who have mini fashionista sons and daughters... you know who you are! (I'm not judging- I will DEFINITELY be falling into your category when the time comes!)

Children's clothing used to be practical and mostly inexpensive because the idea was that kids grow out of their clothes fast and always get them dirty. They were made of materials that are easy to wash and don't wrinkle. All kids needed were a few nice outfits for special occasions. THEN, designers decided that if the parents look fashionable and amazing all the time, then why shouldn't their kids as well? Half the size and double the cuteness! Unfortunately, the prices are quite high.

Fall/winter Collection for Dolce & Gabanna -
mommy version on the left, kiddy version on the right

Last season, Dolce & Gabanna introduced mini clothes for children, very similar to the outfits designed for adults (read my post HERE). Now it seems that many fashion brands have followed suit. They are launching mini-me collections with the MOST ADORABLE clothes for the little ones to look like their mommys and daddys.

Here are a few of my favourite picks from online shopping website Alex and Alexa (link here)...

Mommy can carry the ones from the Cambridge Satchel Company and Mini -me can carry one from Zatchels!

The much coveted ASH shoes in a mini-me version

These are 'impact resistant' so they are more durable than regular Ray Bans

I bought these for myself last summer!

What will YOUR mini-me's be wearing this season?
